Alexandria Thompson Terminal Point Technique

Alexandria chiropractor Dr. Steven Trauben, DC, and Dr. Jeff Borenstein, DC, use the Thompson technique as a form of effective chiropractic treatment at King Street Back and Neck Care. The technique, also known as the Alexandria Thompson Drop Table Technique and Alexandria Thompson Terminal Point Technique, is based on the analytic work of Dr. J. Clay Thompson and Dr. Romer Derifield, chiropractors from the mid-20th century. Before the treatment phase can begin, there is first a thorough analysis; these are the two parts that comprise the technique. We utilize the information from the analysis to understand your specific spinal condition and to craft a chiropractic treatment regimen best suited to you.

The first procedure in the Thompson Technique in King Street Back and Neck Care is the Derifield-Thompson Leg-Check Analysis. Because any imbalances in the body can affect its core, the extremities, hips, and spine are checked for subluxations. The Leg-Check Analysis pinpoints problems in each section of the body, revealing any potentially harmful chiropractic conditions that need to be dealt with, including leg-length inequality. Because joint function is compromised by subluxations, the Alexandria Thompson Terminal Point Technique serves to restore proper range of motion for both the spine and extremities.

The adjustments in the second step of the Thompson Technique often require the use of a special table to administer high-velocity, low-impact thrusts. Thompson realized that the most effective way of administering these adjustments was not on a normal, stationary table. Because of this, he developed a table specifically for the Alexandria Thompson Drop Table Technique that is supported by a hydraulic system. It drops the table slightly when the doctor applies force in the adjustments, while keeping the patient secure. Then, the high-velocity thrusts can be applied without causing the patient undue pain, since the slight drop accommodates to the motion of the adjustment.

Chiropractic caregivers around the world often use the Alexandria Thompson Terminal Point Technique, or Alexandria Thompson Drop Table Technique, as does Dr. Trauben and Dr. Borenstein. Patients find that this technique can relieve pain associated with many chiropractic ailments.
